Meet our 2011 Beneficiaries

Each year the Greek Week Steering Committee selects local organizations to award the money that is raised during Greek Week. This year, the Steering Committee worked hard to narrow all the great beneficiary applications down to our final 14. All the Greek Week 2011 beneficiaries are great causes, and we couldn't be happier with our choices. So, here is a closer look at this year's recipients.

"Find an early detection and diagnosis program"

"Scholarships for handicapped individuals to receive therapeutic riding treatment"

"This would literally keep our doors open."

"Fund two terminally ill children's dreams"

Central Missouri Honor Flight
"Send over 25 veterans to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C."

"Fund a new athletic field for the children."

"Funding for early intervention autism treatments"

"Electrolarynx machines and lymphedema wraps"

"Send several children to Kids Across America Kamp, a Kanakuk Program."

" Fund a Program Coordinator to recruit more Court Appointed Special Advocates"

"Pharmaceuticals and general supplies"

"Help pay costs for abused and neglected girls to attend Girls Town"

"Send children with related diseases to a summer camp with other children who share similar experiences"

"Fund a new daycare program, the Cub Hub, for student parents"

Greek Week Steering Committee Retreat

The Greek Week Steering Committee put in a lot of hard work over the weekend of February 4th and 5th at their Retreat. They spent time choosing our 14 deserving beneficiaries as well as our theme for the year. On top of that, they were given the opportunity to volunteer at the Central Missouri Food Bank, where they bagged a record 10,102 lbs of cake mix!

Welcome!

Welcome to the University of Missouri Office of Greek Life BLOG. We will have updates, information, personal accounts, pictures, and more from the daily goings-on of the students in the fraternities and sororities at Mizzou.

The Greek community at the University of Missouri makes up more than 20% of the student body population. There are over 50 organizations representing the Interfraternity Council, the Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Association. The students strive to uphold the community's four core values of scholarship, leadership, service, and sisterhood/brotherhood.

Check back often for the stories we will share. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates!
